Progress West Healthcare spot- “Pediatric Doctors”

January 16, 2013  |  Animation, Joe's Work  |  No Comments

This is one of a three-part series I directed for the blr/further ad agency in Birmingham. The 15 second spots are for Progress West Healthcare. This one shows the doctor’s connection to their St. Louis Children’s Hospital. I had lots of help on this from animators Chris McMurray and Joanna Davidovich, illustrators Trevor Irvin and Mike Schultze , and After/Effects wizard Rob Fearon.

University of Alabama at Birmingham birthday animation

January 9, 2013  |  Animation, Joe's Work  |  1 Comment

This is an animated birthday card I did for the University of Alabama at Birmingham through the agency “blr/further”, also in Birmingham. I have added all the sound effects and music on this version, just some stuff from iMovie that I put together for kicks. Much thanks to Rob Fearon for his excellent After/Effects work!

Ugly American characters

October 17, 2011  |  Illustrations, Joe's Work, Uncategorized  |  No Comments

Finally getting around to posting these Comedy Central character designs I worked on at Turner Studios earlier this year. Let’s start off with semi-nudity! The first characters I got to work on (Episode 202) were “dress-ups” of Callie and her sister Lillith:

A few zombie musicians:

Later on I added these guys for the end times:

More coming (Episode 204) if we make it past these guys!

Ugly Americans on Comedy Central tonight!

July 7, 2011  |  Animation, Events, Illustrations, Joe's Work  |  1 Comment

Finally! I worked on character designs for the second season of Ugly Americans from December 2010 to May 2011. I was fortunate enough to get to work with my old buddies Sam Leyja and Matt Jenkins as well as the rest of the fine crew at Turner Studios, as we cranked out dozens of characters for every other episode.

Tonight’s show (10:30pm, Comedy Central) is the first one we worked on, Episode #202 “Callie and Her Sister” (that’s one of the show’s main characters above, Callie). After the show airs tonight I will be able post some of the designs I worked on, including some “dress-ups” (and “dress downs”!) of the main characters. Look for more posts right here (it’s about time) over the coming weeks, as I reveal some other projects I’ve been up to!
