From the figure drawing session at Studio Outpost. Our model, Marissa, added a fur top and full length gloves to her poses. I added the cigarette holder for dramatic effect!

Ugly American characters

Finally getting around to posting these Comedy Central character designs I worked on at Turner Studios earlier this year. Let’s start off with semi-nudity! The first characters I got to work on (Episode 202) were “dress-ups” of Callie and her sister Lillith:

My Indigo Girls album cover art!

My good friend and designer extraordinaire Erin Dangar put together the package design, art direction and type for the Indigo Girls latest CD.

She turned me loose on the illustrations, including the inside booklet and back cover:

Erin took me to the Indigo Girls show at the Botanical gardens, and afterwards took me back to meet them. They were so gracious and thankful for the artwork, and really nice down to earth people. The whole experience was great, from working with Erin on the design to hearing the show and meeting two Atlanta music icons in a relaxed and beautiful venue.

Speaking of awesome musicians- Erin is quite an amazing bass player and singer too! Check out her killer band, The Holland Dutch:

Ugly Americans on Comedy Central tonight!

Finally! I worked on character designs for the second season of Ugly Americans from December 2010 to May 2011. I was fortunate enough to get to work with my old buddies Sam Leyja and Matt Jenkins as well as the rest of the fine crew at Turner Studios, as we cranked out dozens of characters for every other episode.

Tonight’s show (10:30pm, Comedy Central) is the first one we worked on, Episode #202 “Callie and Her Sister” (that’s one of the show’s main characters above, Callie). After the show airs tonight I will be able post some of the designs I worked on, including some “dress-ups” (and “dress downs”!) of the main characters. Look for more posts right here (it’s about time) over the coming weeks, as I reveal some other projects I’ve been up to!

Brushes for iPhone

My first attempt at using “Brushes”, an iPhone painting application. This is “Freckles”, our chicken who is ailing from an eye infection. It’s a little tricky figuring out the program on such a small canvas, but it works pretty well!

We are designing the site so bear with us. Joe’s site is going to be a great place to showcase his work and his reel rocks. Come back in a week or two and it will be all finished. Well….Is a blog website ever finished. Not really, it will be a work in progress and thus will keep us all interested in what the hell will Joe be up to next.
